P.J. Woods, PhD, MBA, RN is a professor and Concentration
Coordinator for the Masters in Nursing Administration at the College of Nursing, University of New Mexico Health Sciences
Center where she teaches research, resource management, quality, leadership and health policy classes. Before retiring and
joining the faculty at the College of Nursing, she was the Chief Nursing Officer and Associate Dean for Clinical Nursing Services
at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center where she served for over 20 years. She is a nationally recognized
expert in nursing workforce issues and developed the first Academic Nurse Residency Program in the nation. In addition, she
is a nationally recognized expert and speaker on the application of evidenced based research in a practice environment and
quality and business management for nurse managers and leaders. Dr. Woods is also involved in health policy and held a national
appointment to the President's National Advisory Council for Healthcare Research and Quality.
